John M. Moran
FDNY Battalion Chief
John M. Moran, born in Rockaway Beach, was a lifelong resident of Rockaway Park who was killed in the line of duty, while attempting to save lives at the site of the World Trade Center attack.
He worshipped at St. Francis De Sales Church. John was the Battalion Chief for the Special Operation Command Unit of the New York City Fire Department. He also was an attorney.
He is preceded in death by his father, Walter F. Moran.
John is survived by his mother, Margaret M. Moran; his wife, Kimberly Hyatt-Moran; his brother, Michael M. Moran; and two sisters, Ellen M. Brennan and Mona M. O’Connor.
A Memorial Mass will be held on September 28, 11 a.m., at St. Francis De Sales Church.
